The Challenges of Deradicalisation Programmes in the UK

This article looks at the problems that are or may be presented by extremists – those who have gone through de-radicalisation programmes and those who have only been proposed for or have never been part of them. First, the CONTEST strategy is described, more precisely its Prevent programme. In the next section, four cases of attacks by extremists are described, on the basis of which the shortcomings of the Prevent programme and the threats and problems posed by these extremists are identified.
