The expert study elaborates on the importance of the following security fields – nuclear weapons, nuclear armaments and nuclear disarmament. In addition to the introduction and clarification of the origins of nuclear weapons, the article deals in detail with the nuclear destruction in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, including the elucidation of the destructive factors of a nuclear explosion. In the following part, the article focuses on the US-Russian relations in the field of nuclear weapons and nuclear disarmament. The presented overview of nuclear weapons reflects on the findings of the prestigious security yearbook SIPRI (Stockholm International Peace Research Institute) from Sweden.
