EUROPOL – Major Functions and Legal Aspects

The article is aimed at highlighting major functions of Europol’s activities as well as the legal aspect along with the most recent implications resulting from the new EU legislation based on the Lisbon Treaty. After a brief explanation of basis for establishing and original functioning of Europol, including the previous regulation, the article focuses on the current basic regulation by Regulation (EU) 2016/794 of Europol.
