GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION SYSTEM AND STATISTICAL DISPLAYING OF TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS BY MEANS OF DIGITAL DATA

On the bases of comparative method the worked out study relates the statistical assessment of traffic accidents in the present time by means of utilization of new information technologies, that is the tools of geographical information systems (GIS) for the purposes of statistical assessment of traffic accidents on ground communications on the territory of the Slovak Republic. Content of the study includes possibilities of utilization of new trends of GIS tools application for the purposes of Traffic Police, general principles, approach with its usage and advantages, which it offers, e.g. graphical depicting of localities with the occurrence of traffic accidents on a digital map and photographs of traffic accidents places. Study further offers a glance upon the problematic of statistical assessment of traffic accidents investigation and summarizes the general notions on respective problematic.
