How to Make Progress in Police Ethics? (Reflec-tions and Solutions)

The importance of police ethics in the frame of increasing claims on the performance of police service in a democratical legally consistent state grows noticeably. According to the author, it is necessary to develope this subject not as a complex of advanced and „finished“ norms and behavioral manners for „fitting out“ policemen, but as a systematical moral cultivation of their personality, fostering ability of questioning value dimension of the world, ability of solving moral dilemmas and critical reflection their own feelings, behaviour and actions. Therefore, police ethics should be understood not as an „addition“ to the narrow interpretation of professional policeman’s profile, but as an integral part of his or her complex personal preparation.
