Development of Police Psychology

The article deals with milestones, leaders, institutions associated with the development of police psychology abroad and in the Czech and Slovak environment. The author examines the concept of policing in historical context, the desirable properties of policemen and changes in connection with the transformation of society. Police psychology is viewed as the application of psychological science. In conclusion of this article is published an overview of the topics of police psychology addressed abroad.
