Crazy Shooters: an Introduction

This theoretical paper presented the phenomenon of “crazy shooters” and summarized selected issues concerning this problem. Text also presented some basic definitions and concepts (“signal crime”, theory of moral panic). Some criminological theories, limits of potential research of this problem and possible relation between the cases of “crazy shooting” and media (e.g. computer games) were introduced. Finally, four examples of “crazy shootings” which illustrated the fact that particular criminals had entirely different motives, psychical character and access to guns and ammunition, were mentioned.
