Electronic Monitoring in Europe

This article gives an overview of the use of electronic monitoring for the purposes of criminal justice in nearly 20 European countries. The introduction includes a brief excursus on the origin of the concept, followed by a survey, which summarizes the findings on the models of electronic monitoring, on used technologies, age restrictions and for example also on the range of offenses where the electronic monitoring of offenders is applied.
