Graphical Extremist Symbols in Public Space

The paper introduces some particular research project dealing with the graphical extremist propaganda issue and the symbols disseminated by extremists in public spaces. The introduction part of the article presents a short description of the extremist symbols functions in general, following by the characterization of individual symbol categories occurring in the streets of Czech cities. Practical examples illustrate specific attributes of extremist scene in the context of current political and social issues and threats. The author underlines the importance of higher awareness of extremist symbols and propaganda in terms of preventive and security measures.
