Assessment Centre as a Method of Selecting Managers in Police Departments

Abstract

The article deals with the issue of selecting middle and senior police managers in the Police of the Czech Republic using the Assessment Centre method, focusing on empirical research in this area. The introduction describes and defines the theory of competence and method of selecting managers. Furthermore, the work focuses on the form of the Assessment Centre at the Police of the Czech Republic. The following practical part of the work already defines the performed empirical research, which was performed among the senior police managers. In the research part, the methods of questionnaire survey and interviews with experts were used. The research solution concerning the usability of results of the Assessment Centre for senior managers was offered to professional public.
