IMPACT OF A CATASTROPHE ON A SPECIFIC GROUP OF INHABITANTS FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF GESTALT PSYCHOLOGY
BREČKA, Tibor A.
In literature dealing with psychology of crisis and emergency situations, as well as in lectures on psychology of catastrophe, crisis communication and intervention, the theme of the “Impact of a catastrophe on a specific group of inhabitants” is widely discussed. In this paper I focus on available information concerning this topic. Furthermore I reflect on at least a broader and for our purposes sufficient definition of Gestalt therapy and Contact Cycle, on applications of Gestalt psychotherapy postulates to the given theme and finally also on practical knowledge and recommendations that arise from them.
Keywords: gestalt psychology, emergency situations, catastrophe, crisis communication.
