Recruitment Practices of Sects. Introduction to the Problem

This theoretical article introduced the basic terminology (sect, cult, and fundamentalism) and described general characteristics of sects and cults. Furthermore, selected motives for the entering into sects and cults were analyzed as well as the typical features of such groupings according to selected authors. However, the main part focused on concrete recruitment practices of sects, especially on processes and strategies used for attracting new members. The final part focused on description of Police’activities in this field with the aim of elimination sects’ and cults’ influence on the Czech territory.
