Assessment of the Importance of Decontamination of Persons Exposed to Chemical Warfare Substances in a Terrorist Attack

Abstract
In general, the procedures of rescue services after the contamination of persons with dangerous chemical substances, including combat substances, are established. From the point of view of the physical and chemical properties of these substances with an emphasis on the form of contamination (inhalation, through the skin) and their effect on the human organism and the real time perspective of the start of decontamination, decontaminating substances used and other aspects, the implementation of this decontamination and its practical significance appear to be debatable. The aim of the article is to assess the existing capacity and other options, methods, and procedures for the decontamination of affected persons from the point of view of the importance of this decontamination for the first aid to contaminated persons in connection with the possible real situations of the occurrence of these extraordinary events.
