Abstract

Within the framework of the scientific research task “National Model of Criminal Intelligence” VYSK No. 231, implemented at the Criminal Police Department of the Academy of the Police Force in Bratislava, the authors of the paper analyse and introduce the theoretical background that needs to be accepted in the creation of the national model of criminal intelligence at the strategic level and at the operational level of crime detection in the Slovak Republic. They focus on the taxonomy of basic concepts and theoretical definition of the risk management process, which they apply to the crime detection process. They justify the need for implementation of a risk-based approach to crime detection at the strategic and operational levels in the interest of increasing security.
