Emergency Call Systems in Selected Members States of the European Union

The presented article builds on the author’s previous scientific papers in the field of emergency calls and operational management in the Czech Republic conditions. The topic of their modernization will be the subject matter of the intended doctoral thesis. This paper can be used as a theoretical basis for the thesis. The aim of this paper is to summarize the available information on emergency call systems in selected member states of the European Union. The hypothesis assumes the comprehensibility of the current system for its users. This system is a combination of national emergency calls with the single European emergency call number 112. However, its verification by empirical research with sufficient data is necessary. The outcome of the paper is a summary of information that may outline the direction of future development. It consists of further technical and technological changes in compliance with the latest trends in the European integration, including the centralization of emergency calls into a single national emergency line. The development of the security environment can also be significant as well as the knowledge and outputs in resolving a pandemic as part of the duty at the operational centers of the basic units of the integrated rescue system.
