The Sentencing of Members of the Police Force in the Context of the “Ne Bis In Idem” Principle

The article focuses on the unlawful acts of members of the Police force from the perspective of the principle of “ne bis in idem”. The author looks into the issue whether a police officer can be sentenced (sanctioned) for one unlawful act twice – especially by looking into the following types of wrongdoings: disciplinary wrong, an infringement, other administrative wrong, a procedural wrong and a criminal offence. The article also outlines the current decisions of the European Court of Human Rights on the issue.
