Michal Ninger, <\/em>Police Academy of the Czech Republic in Prague, <\/em>Faculty of Security and Law, Department of Professional Training<\/em><\/p>\n Abstract<\/strong><\/p>\n The article addresses the issue of selecting a weapon system for police intervention against a long-range threat. Its aim is to formulate an evaluation framework linking ballistic parameters, weapon construction, and optical sighting systems with the legal principles of proportionality and selective use of force. The text is based on a synthesis of professional literature and technical data and introduces the concept of the \u2018police effective engagement boundary\u2019. The result is a set of criteria applicable to decision-making on weapon system configuration in security practice.<\/p>\n
