Possibilities for the Use of AED Medical Transport Services in the Event of a Sudden Cardiac Arrest

This study aimed to evaluate the integration of Medical Transport Services into the first responder system. The idea of this kind of innovation came from the following: Medical Transport Services are constantly mobile, their planned range reaches the most distant parts of the region, and they are required to have an automated external defibrillator on board. Based on these facts, they have great potential in providing prehospital care for a patient with a cardiac arrest. After a final evaluation of the available information, we must conclude that the participation of Medical Transport Services in the first responder system is not feasible. In particular, the biggest obstacles are the necessary funding of the Medical Transport Services for calls to sudden circulatory arrests and their high workload, which minimizes the possibility of being used at the time needed.
